THE MONKEY AND THE GOLDEN KEY

(FAIRY STORY)

Once there was a king and queen. They lived in a beautiful golden shoe and had a beautiful daughter, Masako. But Masako was very unhappy. She never laughed or smiled. "We will give a gold key to the person who can make Masako happy," said the queen. A musician came and played the harp, a fairy said a magic spell, and a joker came and told jokes, but Masako did not smile or laugh. 

A young farmer came to work on the queen's shoe. He came with his little monkey. The little monkey liked to play. One day Masako saw the monkey and started to smile, then she laughed. The queen listened to her daughter and saw the monkey. 

The monkey was happy to get a gold key!
